I recently had new windows put up in my home and all sensors are working fine except one. I actually relocated it to a different part of the house since one of the windows is just a fixed non opening window. How can I reset this sensor? The problem is causing me to leave the alarm unarmed everyday for about 2 weeks now. It is a Digital Security Controls sensor, which is a company owned by Tyco, which owns ADT. I am thinking about calling ADT for maintenance but that means atleast 115 US$. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
1. if you relocated the sensor more than 100 feet away from your alarm panel (metal cabinet) it wont read it and show it as open.
2. the magnet needs to be lined up with contact within 1 inch from the side that had 2 lines on it that look like this I I.
3. you may need a new battery. if you open the contact to check the battery, it will set off the tamper and put your alarm into check. you'll need the installer code. adt's is usually 6321. on your keypad, hit 6321 (or whatever the installer code is) and 800. so thats (6321800) the system will say 20 on it. you're now in programming and you can replace your battery without setting it into check. when the contact is put back together properly, go to your keypad and hit *99 (star 99). this will reset your alarm, get you back to your original screen, and you should be fine.
4. if all else fails, bypass that zone so you can use the rest of the alarm. find the 2 digit zone number (12, 21, 24, whatever it is). go to your keypad, hit your code + 6 (bypass) + 2 digit zone number + * (star). it will show you that you just bypassed that zone. you can now arm your alarm system without that sensor. when you disarm it, it will unbypass it, so you'll have to do this everytime you want to arm it until you get it fixed. if you have any problems, call me at 1-866-max-today. you can visit my website at honeywellmonitoring.com or email me at alarmax@honeywellmonitoring.com i know everything about honeywell equipment, and i used to work for adt too. i can also get you out of your adt contract early, so you can start paying only $15 per month instead of the $30 to $40 per month you're probably paying. it'll save you a few hundred per year.
