security warning stickers

i got into a car accident and had to rent a car. after everything was said and done i got home at 10pm. i tried to find a staff member to get a parking permit but no one was around at the time. we are not allowed to make our own parking signs to show that the car belonged to me. So my next plan was to speak to a security guard in the morning at 6am but by then it was to late the car was gone. i had to pay one hundred and twenty-four dollars to get the car out. i tried to explain to the association board that the car was a rental and i had no way of letting them know that the car belonged to me. they refuse to refund me the money, while being rude and very unprofessional. i want to know if there is a law saying that they have to put a warning first or can they just go and take cars as they please.
