door security bars Questions
People that put bars on their windows?
Do you think it's going too far? When we were rennovating our current home a guy drove up and told us that someone had broken into his house and gotten into his garage. He scared my wife so we got bars put on the windows and a security door. It wasn't til a month or so later that I realized what had happened. We had been terrorized into securing our home. Then tonight for the first time in almost a year, I forgot to turn the front light on. A guy bangs on our door and I go out to talk to him in the dark. He proceeds to tell me that he lives in the neighborhood and that he has seen "Mexicans" looking into my windows at night and that we white so should get an alarm system. Before the guy walked away I gave him a few choice words. Before you judge someone for having bars on their doors and windows realize that Americans are being terrorized into securing their homes. After the jerk left I opened the front security door and the garage door and the blinds. FEAR! That's all it is!
You weren't terrorized into it. You were told by someone that they had been burglarized. They didn't tell you that you had to put bars on your window and they didn't threaten to do anything to you. If they had threatened you and made you feel unsafe then you would have been terrorized. This was simply your reaction to information being passed onto you.
As far as the guy in the dark. Well, maybe he saw some Mexicans and maybe he didn't. Alarm systems are not a bad idea. There is nothing Un American about them. This man was not terrorizing you. He was, once again, just someone warning you. A terrorist doesn't want you to have an alarm system or bars on your windows. They want easy targets.
